Sammy Total: No Van Halen Reunion!
JAKARTA - Sammymen again considered Van Halen's all-star tribute concert which was proposed by many parties. Sammy said he "wanted to play" with Alex Van Halen once again.
No progress has been reported on Van Halen's possible tribute event since April 2022 when former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted told The Palm Beach Post that he was approached by drummer Van Halen about six months earlier about playing bass for the project.
Newsted told the Florida newspaper he agreed to go to California to play alongside Alex and legendary guitarist Joe Satriani and see if it felt right, but he finally realized that it was impossible to do that.
Meanwhile, while appearing in the latest episode of "THAT Rocks!", the weekly YouTube series hosted by Eddie Trunk, Jim Florentine, and Don Jamieson, Sammy was asked about the possible reunion of the surviving Van Halen members for a tribute concert.
"This is the same old story. Alex won't respond to me. I contacted him. I haven't done it for a long time, because it's like, 'Hey, you want to talk to me? Call me.' But there won't be a Van Halen reunion," said Sammy.
"First of all, it's too late. I've said it millions of times Wolfie [son Eddie Van Halen and former Van Halen bassist Wolfgang Van Halen] did a great job with what he did, and he will be the perfect man [to play with us at the tribute concert].

"Dave [Lee Roth, the original singer of Van Halen] and I'm still alive, but there's no way he's willing to work with me, so if he goes out alone, it's not Van Halen's reunion; it's Van Halen's half-unit. If I go out alone without him, it's half Van Halen's reunion.
"Only the good news about it is that I can sing the songs well. But Mike (Michael Anthony, the original bassist of Van Halen) and I'm like this [tiring], and if Al (Alex) wants to come and play with us... I'd love to play with Al. "I said recently, that I really wanted to play music with Al. I wanted to write a song with Al. I wanted to enter the studio and jam with Al. But thinking about Van Halen's reunion without Eddie, no, nothing like that."
