Through The ESG Festival, Bank Mandiri Wants To Support NZE 2060 Achievements
Bank Mandiri held a hybrid ESG Festival as a realization of its commitment to achieving Operational Net Zero Emissions (NZE) in 2030, financing emissions in 2060, and empowering entrepreneurship by prioritizing the principles of Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), recently.
"As First Movers on Sustainable Banking in Indonesia, the company hopes to get the support of all stakeholders to become Indonesia's Sustainability Champion for Better Future," said Bank Mandiri President Director Darmawan Junaidi in his official statement in Jakarta, Wednesday, July 12.
In implementing ESG principles, Bank Mandiri applies three main pillars. First, it is stated in the pillars of sustainable operation by carrying out various initiatives and sustainable products.
Related to this, Bank Mandiri released digital carbon tracking, debit card and E-Money prepaid card from recycled PVC materials, cardless credit card (physical cardless credit card), and carbon insetting through land restoration.
Bank Mandiri is also collaborating with subsidiaries, Mandiri Tunas Finance and Mandiri Utama Finance in creating an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem through EV features in Livin' Sukha and EV promotions in Livin' and Kopra until August 2023.
"This initiative also makes Bank Mandiri the first bank to have digital carbon tracking, as well as issue debit cards and E-Money prepaid cards from recycled PVC plastic materials," said Darmawan.
Second, the pillars of Sustainable Banking with a focus on accelerating Indonesia's Green Economy through the development of sustainable finance and financial products. Bank Mandiri itself has issued the 2021 Sustainability Bond, 2023 Green Bond, ESG Repo.
Then, the distribution of green loans and sustainability links, the launch of ESG-based mutual fund products by Mandiri Investment (Mandiri Group) and marketed on Livin' Investments since 2021.

The third or last pillar is sustainable beyond banking, where Bank Mandiri seeks to build and instill ESG awareness, both for internal (Bank Mandiri employees), customers, and all stakeholders so that together the achievement of NZE 2060 is successful.
