National Police Chief Receives Judo Black Belt From PB PJSI Chairman Lt. Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Indonesian Judo Association (PB PJSI) Lt. Gen. Maruli Simanjuntak pinned a black belt to the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit, at the Judo Kapolri Cup at the Pencak Silat Pencak. Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta, Sunday, July 9.

"Today, we pinned the National Police Chief. Because he was also an athlete. And we give awards today," said Lieutenant General Maruli at TMII, in a written statement.

According to him, this annual event had indeed stopped due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, unexpectedly after the pandemic, the participants actually increased to around 400 people.

He views that the increasing number of participants shows extraordinary enthusiasm, both from the TNI and Polri. General Sigit also showed similar high enthusiasm.

"It turns out, unexpectedly, in this one year I have seen a lot of good techniques. Including a few days ago, we already have a 3rd place in Asia. So we can already beat countries in Asia. It's quite strong," he explained.

Evidently, athletes representing a number of Polda expressed their hope that the Judo Cup Kapolri event could continue.

"Here we can show our capabilities, both policewomen and police throughout Indonesia, so that we can improve each other's abilities," said Safitri, who is a policewoman for the Central Sulawesi Police.

He said, giving a black belt to the National Police Chief really surprised him as a member. Pride is increasingly displayed for him because he has a leader who has achievements like Judo athletes.
