This Best-Seller Car In Europe In 2022 Gets Updates, Comes With Electric Variants

JAKARTA - Peugeot 208 is the car with the best sales in Europe in 2022. Now, this hatchback is experiencing some significant refreshers.

Peugeot 208 received striking changes from previous versions, including in terms of design, interior, and performance. In addition, 208 also comes with electric and hybrid variants.

Jerome Micheron, Director of Products of Peugeot, explained that an update in 208 was made to maintain the consistency of this model as the best in the European market with increased design and performance.

"The new 208 gauger is more than ever: more compact, more fun driving, more sophisticated, and more interesting!" Micheron said on Stellantis' official website, Thursday, July 6.

In terms of design, Peugeot 208 and E-208 adopted the headlights with three long vertical claw lights placed at the bottom of the bumper, following the latest design from the French manufacturer.

Not only maintaining the characteristics of Peugeot through lights, the latest 208 model also has a goal that blends with the main lights with a more modern design. Peugeot's signature lion logo is also placed in the center of the grip to strengthen brand identities.

Turning to the interior, Peugeot 208 is only equipped with a touch screen of 10 inches as a standard. All-new 208 also brings software updates, namely Peugeot i-Connect and Peugeot i-Connect Advanced as infotainment systems.

To create a diverse cockpit atmosphere, Peugeot also introduced ambiguous lighting with eight options

different colors. These colors can change according to the chosen driving mode.

Peugeot provides three variants of the engine for this hatchback, namely full electricity (EV), hybrid, and gasoline. The E-208 variant comes with an electric motor that produces 153 dk of power.

The E-208 is equipped with a 51 kWh capacity battery that allows this car to reach a distance of up to 400 km based on WLTP calculations. The battery can be charged quickly using a 100 kW charger, allowing charging from 20% to 80% in less than 25 minutes.

For consumers who want to experience electric cars for the first time, the hybrid variant is the right choice. Peugeot 208 comes with two PureTech gasoline engines with a power of 98 dk and 134 dk, combined with a dual-clutch electric e-DCS6 transmission of six accelerations and single electric motors.

Peugeot also provides gasoline variants with a high level of efficiency. 208 is equipped with two engines, namely PureTech 75 with a capacity of 1.2 liters 3-cylinder and 74 dk of power with five acceleration transmissions, and PureTech 100 with a capacity of 1.2 liters 3-cylinder and 98 dk of power combined with six manual accelerations.

Peugeot 208 comes in three models, namely Active, Allure, and the highest variant of GT. The Peugeot E-208 variant will go on sale in November 2023, while other variants will soon be announced.
