Alleged Extortion In Detention Center, More Than 10 People Examined By The KPK Supervisory Board
JAKARTA - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that alleged ethical violations related to illegal levies (extortion) at the Class I Detention Center in East Jakarta, the Red and White Building branch will continue to be investigated. A number of parties have been questioned.
"The number of internally and externally clarified has been more than ten and the process is still ongoing," KPK Supervisory Board member Albertina Ho told reporters in a written statement quoted on Saturday, July 1.
Albertina did not specify the party being questioned. Including the matter of external parties in question.
"Sorry, I forgot. Because there are many cases being handled," he said.
As previously reported, the KPK Supervisory Board found allegations of illegal levies at the KPK Detention Center. The value is fantastic to reach Rp4 billion and has been carried out since December 2021-March 2022.
Meanwhile, the Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, stated that there were five concrete things that the anti-corruption commission had done. First, is to investigate allegations of extortion in detention centers.
"Secondly, carry out ethical checks by the KPK Supervisory Board," said Ali, quoted from the Indonesian KPK YouTube, Monday, June 26.
Third, employees suspected of being involved are now being investigated by the KPK Inspectorate. Then, they were also relieved of their duties so that they focused on following the ongoing legal process.
"The fifth KPK has conducted a thorough evaluation of the management of the KPK branch detention center," said Ali.
"Anyone suspected of carrying out employee discipline and even then the crime will definitely be dealt with firmly," he continued.
