Puan Maharani Affirms Her Meeting With AHY Is Not Gimmick

Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Puan Maharani said her meeting with the General Chairperson (Ketum) of the Democratic Party Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) was not a gimmick or pretending. He said the meeting took a long time so it was impossible to just play.

"Earlier someone asked,'sis, is this pretending or not?'. How come, pretending to talk for more than an hour, isn't it," said Puan in a press conference after meeting with AHY on Plataran, Senayan, Jakarta, Sunday, June 18.

"Isn't this pretending, sir?" asked Puan to AHY who sat next to her with a smile.

"No," AHY replied with a smile.

Puan ensured that the meeting between the two was a gathering with AHY which was running in a relaxed and family atmosphere. "So it's true, this is talking (between, red) brother and sister, sister and brother," he said.

Furthermore, he said this meeting would be resumed. PDIP and the Democratic Party have agreed to hold a follow-up meeting to discuss various good things ahead, during, or after the 2024 General Election.

Moreover, said Puan, politics is a dynamic thing. "Of course, to be able to reach a meeting point in the middle, it takes time to talk," he said.

"If you never meet, you never talk, of course there will always be miscommunication. So this may be the first meeting but God willing, it will not be the last meeting," continued the chairman of the DPR.

Meanwhile, AHY said this meeting was a form of political reconciliation. "I don't want to discuss the past, but the presence of the two of us hopefully becomes an oase," said the son of the 6th President of the Republic of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

"That politics often places a person or party in a different position or attitude. However, the friendship between us, Ms. Puan Maharani, who has also been in good relations with our family, hopefully becomes a good form," concluded AHY.
