The Smuggling Of 39 Illegal PMIs In Dumai Was Thwarted By The Riau Police TIP Task Force Team
RIAU - Riau Regional Police's Task Force (Satgas) team thwarted the smuggling of 39 Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) in Dumai and Bengkalis between June 5-11, 2023.
"In the disclosure, the officers managed to secure nine suspects from four TIP cases. He explained that the first case was handled by the Riau Police. The Riau Police Ditreskrimum TPPO Task Force team received information about the existence of a house located in West Wonosari Village, Bengkalis Regency, which was used as a shelter for five PMIs.
"Then the Riau Police Ditreskrium TPPO Task Force Team checked the house that was suspected of being used as a PMI shelter. From the results of the inspection, it was found that three PMIs would be dispatched to Malaysia," he said.

Then the second case was also carried out by the Riau Police TPPO Task Force team. The two perpetrators were arrested by officers when they were about to cross to Rupat Island at Roro Bandar Sri Junjungan Terminal, Dumai, Friday, June 9, when they were about to cover four PMIs to Malaysia.
Then, added the Head of Division, the third case was carried out by the Bengkalis Police Satreskrim TPPO Team.
From this disclosure, officers managed to secure three suspects and managed to save 28 PMIs while staying in Selat Baru Village, Bantan District, Bengkalis Regency, Monday, June 5.
"Then the last case was handled by the Dumai Police Satreskrim TPPO Task Force Team, where in the disclosure the officers managed to secure three suspects and managed to save 4 PMIs in a rented house on Jalan Perjuangan, Bengkalis Regency," he said.
Nandang added that the modus operandi of the perpetrators in their actions was to recruit PMIs for a fee of Rp. 5 million. Currently, the suspects and evidence have been secured at the Riau Police Headquarters, Bengkalis Police and Dumai Police to undergo further legal proceedings.
"For their actions, our perpetrators are trapped under Article 2 paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of TIP and or Article 81 in conjunction with Article 83 of Law no. 18 of 2017 concerning TP for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, with a penalty of more than 2 years in prison," he said.
