Medan-Binjai Toll Road Tariffs Rise Starting May 18, 2023, Here's The List
JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) said the tariff for the Medan-Binjai (MeBi) Toll Road will increase on Thursday, May 18, 2023, starting at 00.00 WIB.
This follows the Decree (SK) of the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Number 456/KPTS/M/2023 concerning the Determination of the Medan-Binjai Toll Road Rate on April 18, 2023.
Operations Director III Hutama Karya Koentjoro said the adjustment of the MeBi toll tariff was in accordance with the regulations and adjustment of toll rates, especially since it had been delayed up to 2-3 times the schedule should have been.
"MeBi Toll Roads have started operating since 2017, which according to the toll tariff adjustment regulations is carried out every two years according to the inflation rate, so tariff adjustments should have been made since 2019," Koentjoro said in a written statement, Monday, May 15.
However, said Koentjoro, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and an increase in fuel prices by up to 30 percent in all industrial sectors, the factor in delaying the toll tariff adjustment.
"With the applicable tariff adjustment, Hutama Karya appealed to users of the MeBi Toll Road to ensure the adequacy of the Electronic Money Card (EU) before traveling," he said.
"And immediately top-up the EU Card if the balance is lacking, so as not to cause queues at toll gates, comply with the rules in force on toll roads, and always agree that safety is number one," he added.
