8 Landslides Occurred In Ambon, Several Houses And Watersheds Were Damaged
JAKARTA - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) said rain with high intensity on Thursday, May 11, caused landslides in Ambon City, Maluku Province.
Ambon City BPBD Secretary Eva Tuhumury said landslides occurred in eight locations spread across four sub-districts in Ambon City.
He explained that landslides occurred in the neighborhoods of RT 004 RW 003 and RT 001/02 Urimessing Village and the neighborhood of RT 004/07 Nusaniwe Village in the Nusaniwe District area.
Landslides also occurred in the neighborhood of RT 004/014 Batu Merah Dalam and the neighborhood of RT 002/07 Soya Country in the Sirimau District and the neighborhood of RT 022 RW 08 Halong Village and the neighborhood of RT 040/08 Passo Country in the Baguala District area.
In addition, landslides occurred on the road to the Refinery Country in the South Leitimur District.
Eva said the landslide caused damage to houses, the WAITomomu River watershed, and the road to the Refinery Country.
Based on BPBD data, the natural disaster had an impact on 9 families.

Assistance in the form of carts, shovels, tarpaulins, and sacks has been given to affected residents to clean up landslides.
BPBD appealed to residents to be aware of the potential for natural disasters when heavy rains fell for a long time and immediately reported natural disasters in the neighborhood to BPBD through village government officials.
