Acting Governor Of DKI Asks KJP For Smoking Students To Be Revoked, KPAI Is Actually Worried That It Will Even Decide The Development Cycle

JAKARTA - The sanction of withdrawing the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) for students who smoke will only break the coaching cycle, said Chairman of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Ai Maryanti Solihah.

"If you only give sanctions, it is feared that they will only decide the cycle of coaching is effective, it could even become fear, lies, and manipulation will likely emerge," he said when asked for information regarding the revocation of the KJP for students who smoke reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 11.

Ai Maryanti said the government's decision or approach should be closer to aspects of protection, coaching, as well as effectiveness, not just a frightening appeal.

He said violations related to the misuse of KJP must be seen in general, what form of abuse it takes.

He agreed with the activity to reduce the number of cigarettes in students.

However, this is not only a matter of policy, but also an action taken directly by an official, namely the DKI Provincial Government.

"If specifically associated with cigarettes, this is a problem for our youth, we must not forget how the education is," he said.

Ai Maryanti said an approach with coaching is better done in overcoming this because it must also be reviewed from various aspects such as his family background.

According to him, an approach to a model like this also provides support so that you can stop smoking, improve yourself, and in accordance with the duties and functions of students, namely for education.

"For KPAI, sanctions must educate, which not only give birth to actions that are not measurable," he said.

Previously, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono emphasized that his party would revoke KJP Plus for smokers so that KJP Plus could be distributed to the right person by conducting discussions between teachers and students.

"I ask the Head of the Education Office, if the student who gets the KJP is caught smoking, the KJP must be revoked. This is so that the city can give it to other children because the local government's ability is limited," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, May 5.
