Heru Budi Affirms Road Repairs For Jakarta Not Only For The ASEAN Summit: To The End Of Jakarta Too
JAKARTA - Ahead of the ASEAN 2023 Summit, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is aggressively making road repairs in the capital city. Mainly, the re-pavement of roads in Jakarta is carried out on protocol roads.
Jakarta is one of the hosts of the ASEAN 2023 Summit. There will be a meeting of Southeast Asian heads of state at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) in September.
Jakarta also hosted a meeting of city leaders throughout ASEAN at the Mayors and Governors Meeting of the ASEAN Capital 2023 as a series of ASEAN Summits.
However, Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said that this road repair was not solely done to prevent the bad impression of Jakarta's infrastructure by the delegation of the international forum.
"No, this is for all. Especially, yes, the ASEAN Summit. So, there are 14 national roads that have been handed over to the DKI Regional Government. We have to take care of that," said Heru at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, May 9.
In fact, the former mayor of North Jakarta admitted that he would directly check the condition of the roads on the edge of the capital city.
"(The road repairs) in Cawang have been done. Then I saw again in Pesing. Later, at the end of Jakarta I will see," he said.
Meanwhile, there is still one protocol road that has not been repaired, namely Jalan HR Rasuna Said. Heru said the road repairs there would begin when the Jabodebek LRT construction was completed.
"Rasuna Said is waiting for the LRT to finish, then we will clean it up. If I'm not mistaken this year," said Heru.

It is known that the DKI Provincial Government has allocated a budget of IDR 300 billion this year to repair damaged roads permanently. Permanently in this case is paving roads that have many points of damage or potholes.
During the COVID-19 pandemic that hit in recent years, the DKI Provincial Government only covered potholes. As a result, several road points that were patched were damaged again.
Permanent repairs to this protocol road are targeted to be completed before the ASEAN Summit is held in September. Meanwhile, other roads are under mapping.
Later, road work will be carried out permanently using the hotmix method whose asphalting requires heating. In the hotmix method, improvements are carried out by squeezing 11 centimeters of hot asphalt by repairing the concrete of flooded areas.
With 21,400 road points in Jakarta damaged in the last three months, spread across 5 administrative cities in the capital. The tens of thousands of damaged and potholed road points are still being repaired by patch.
