Bus With 30 Santri From Ponorogo Enters Jurang In Parimo, Central Sulawesi

The bus with 30 students had an accident into a ravine in Toboli, Parigi Moutong (Parimo), Central Sulawesi.

"It is true that there was an accident and the police are currently handling it," said Head of Public Relations of the Parigi Moutong Police, Iptu J Turangan, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, May 3.

The bus went into a ravine as deep as 20 meters deep. Some of the passengers have been evacuated to the Kenundaloko Parigi Hospital.

Other passengers, he continued, are in the process of evacuating at the bottom of the ravine by the SAR team, the police, and the local community.

"It is not yet known how many injured victims were, because the officers are still collecting data," he said.

Head of Operational Subsection and SAR for the Palu Basarnas Office, Andi Sultan, explained that his party had deployed personnel from the Parigi SAR Post to assist the evacuation process.

"We involved 10 joint SAR personnel helping with the evacuation, consisting of four Basarnas personnel and six potential SAR personnel," he said.

The bus was boarded by students passing from Palu City to the Gontor Islamic Boarding School in Poso Regency.

The bus went into a ravine due to a failed brake. The students who were victims came from Ponorogo Regency, East Java.
