Accident Rate On East Java Toll Road Is High, Coordinating Minister For Human Development And Culture Asks Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Managers To Add Rambu
MADIUN - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy said the number of accidents on the East Java toll road was high. For this reason, he requested that the signs be increased.
This was said by Muhadjir when checking readiness to face the 2023 Eid homecoming flow on the Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Road managed by PT Jasamarga Ngawi Kertosono Kediri (JNK), Sunday, April 16.
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, accompanied by the City and Madiun Regency Forkopimda, reviewed the readiness of PT JNK to serve travelers starting from the preparation of facilities and infrastructure, as well as the addition of personnel during the homecoming period and the 2023 Eid homecoming period.
"So far the Ngawi-Madiun-Kertosono toll road, the preparations are good in dealing with the flow of homecoming and the return of Lebaran 2023," said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir as quoted by ANTARA.
On that occasion, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir also asked JNK to give an additional warning to drivers to rest and not force themselves to drive a vehicle if they are sleepy or tired.
"The appeal or warning can be in the form of writing or anything that can remind drivers to rest when they are sleepy or tired. They don't have to rest in rest areas, they can also be in integrated posts managed by the Police," he said.
His party emphasized that it is important for drivers to rest when sleepy or tired when driving because the accident rate due to the "human error" is tired and sleepy quite high on toll roads.
"The number of accidents due to sleepiness and fatigue on the East Java toll road is quite high after West Java and Central Java. Therefore, travelers should not force themselves when they are tired or sleepy. Take advantage of the Police's integrated rest area or post to take a break," he said.
President Director of PT JNK, Arie Irianto expressed his ability to follow up on the direction of Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir.
"This is a very positive and good input from him. We are ready to add an announcement board to remind drivers to be sleepy or tired to rest. Because, according to data on the accident rate on the Ngawi-Kertosono Toll Road as much as 57 percent was caused by human error," said Arie.
He added that there was an increase in the number of vehicles passing on the Ngawi-Kertosono toll road this Sunday, only not yet significant, which was around 9,000 vehicles.
It is predicted that there will be an increase in the number of vehicles passing on toll roads, especially along the Ngawi, Madiun, and Kertosono areas starting April 19, 2023 in line with the start of the collective leave holiday. Meanwhile, the peak of the homecoming flow is expected to occur on April 21 or D-1 Lebaran.
