Regarding The OTT Of The Meranti Regent, Firli Bahuri Boasts That The KPK Leaders Are Working Professionally
JAKARTA - Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Firli Bahuri emphasized that the Meranti Islands Regent Muhammad Adil's hand arrest operation (OTT) was proof of his commitment to work professionally in accordance with the provisions of the law and laws and regulations in eradicating corruption. "Alhamdulillah, one regional head, the Meranti Regent was arrested. I always convey that I work professionally in accordance with the provisions of the law and laws and regulations," said Firli in Jakarta, Friday, April 7.
Firli made this statement when responding to the success of the KPK in conducting OTT after some time no corruption suspect was caught in OTT.
He emphasized that the KPK leadership is always careful in acting and making decisions so that there are no legal defects.
"There should be no legal defects at the end of the term of office of the KPK leadership because the five of us are always careful, prudent and compact in making decisions," he said.
The chairman of the KPK stated that the anti-corruption leadership took a unanimous decision, one of the results was that he succeeded in conducting an OTT against the Regent of the Meranti Islands.
"Every decision is taken in a unanimous manner. Today we managed to arrest the Meranti Regent. For 3 months from January to March 31, 2023, there were no arrests," said Firli.

On that occasion, Firli also emphasized his commitment to continue to eradicate all corrupt practices in the country.
"We clean Indonesia from corrupt practices," he said.
Previously, the KPK conducted an OTT against the Regent of Meranti Muhammad Adil in Meranti Regency, Riau, Thursday, April 6 evening.
Currently Muhammad Adil is at the KPK's Red and White Building, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, to undergo further examination by the investigators of the anti-corruption agency.
Apart from the Regent, KPK investigators also arrested 24 other people consisting of officials and private parties.
During the operation, KPK investigators also confiscated some cash as evidence.
"For evidence of temporary money, we make sure the team also secures it. The amount is still being calculated and confirmed to several parties who have been arrested," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri in Jakarta, Friday, April 7, as quoted by Antara.
Ali added that the KPK does not consider the large or small value of transactions in a criminal act of corruption.
"As a common understanding, the amount of large or small money is not the main thing in proving the element of corruption," he said.
The KPK ensures that it will take action against all forms of corruption as long as it happens within its authority.
"A little or a lot of things are the same as acts of corruption, even accepting promises if there are transactions related to the abuse of positions as organizers that have been categorized as corruption crimes," he concluded.
