Tarakan Police Investigate Reports Of Alleged Abduction Of Timber Business Owner

TARAKAN - A mother with the initials C (39) came to the Tarakan Police, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), reporting the alleged kidnapping of her husband (AM) and a truck driver. Previously, C heard and witnessed firsthand that someone was securing her husband and truck driver.

"Actually, my husband was met by an unknown person. My husband and the truck driver haven't been brought home until now. Then, my cell phone was also taken by that person," she said, Monday, April 3.

The alleged kidnapper admitted that he brought C's cellphone for tracking purposes.

"Said to track, that's all," she explained.

According to her, there were a number of questions asked when the mysterious person came to her house.

"My husband himself is a logger with an Independent Trading Business (UD). Until now, my husband and truck driver have not been sent home by these individuals and whether they experienced violence or not," she said.

"Yes, I reported it, because my husband has not returned until now. I hope my husband will return soon," she hoped.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tarakan Police, AKBP Ronaldo Maradona T.P.P Siregar, when confirmed, said that his party had followed up on information regarding the alleged kidnapping.

"This is a follow-up because there was information about kidnappings or arrests that did not mention other identities. I checked with my members who have authority, from Satreskrim, Satresnarkoba, Polair, and none of these activities were carried out by the Tarakan Police," he said.

The police chief then gathered all his personnel to investigate this incident.

"So I collected earlier for my members then from the intelligence unit to investigate, from the Criminal Investigation Unit the Opsnal came to find out who this was, we also coordinated with agencies from the TNI POM element," he continued.

Police said they would investigate this report. If any member is involved, action will be taken.

"Once again we are just making sure to find out who this is. If there is a violation of the law, for example, a fake officer, or even if it turns out that the authorized agency does not comply with procedures, so that someone is harmed, we will process it according to the applicable regulations," he said.

The police chief explained that the procedure for arresting, detaining, and confiscating requires showing a warrant and presenting witnesses during the search.

"So before carrying out the activities of arrest, detention, confiscation and so on, there are procedures that must be carried out, such as showing a warrant, then there are witnesses during the search and so on, that can be learned from the Criminal Procedure Code, Law Number 8 1981," he said.
