2 Suspects In The Alleged Corruption Case Of Riau Islands Provincial Government Grant Funds Arrested, One Of Them Escapes To Jakarta

Two suspects in the alleged corruption case of funds from grant funds from the Riau Islands Provincial Government (Kepri) in 2020 were successfully secured by the Riau Islands Regional Police (Polda Kepri) team. The two suspects with the initials ARS and AR were arrested in two separate places.

The Director of Special Crimes at the Riau Islands Police, Senior Commissioner Nasriadi, said ARS was arrested in Tanjungpinang. Meanwhile AR was arrested in Jakarta.

"Yes, that's right, we arrested two suspects from ARS and AR related to alleged corruption in the spending activities of grants in the field of youth and sports at the Riau Islands Provincial Government PPKD DPA which used Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) funds and the 2020 Riau Islands Provincial Government Amendment APBD," said Nasriadi.

"ARS was arrested on Thursday (March 30) and AR was arrested on Friday (March 31) yesterday," he continued, as quoted by Antara, Saturday, April 1.

He added that during AR's arrest in Jakarta, his party also secured a unit of official car belonging to the Riau Islands Provincial Government.

The two perpetrators who were arrested by the Ditreskrimsus ranks of the Riau Islands Police were officials at the level of the head of the field at the Riau Islands Provincial Government.

ASR is a former Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of the Riau Islands Provincial Government and AR is also a former BPKAD Riau Islands official.

The arrests of the two suspected corruption suspects are the development of two suspected corruption cases previously handled by the Riau Islands Police Ditreskrimsus and six suspects were arrested in mid-2020, namely TWW, MI, SP, MI, MO, and AA.

The Riau Islands Police have continued to arrest four more suspects in December 2022, namely ZU, ON, AN, and S.

The case of alleged corruption in the Riau Islands Provincial Government grant funds in 2020 cost the state finances Rp20 billion. To facilitate the investigation, the police divided the cases into several clusters.
