Massa Raided His House, Mahfud: They Disturbed My Mother
JAKARTA - The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD spoke about a number of mobs who raided his residence in Bugih Village, Pamekasan Regency, East Java.
Through his personal Twitter @mohmahfudmd, Mahfud said that the crowd had not disturbed him as the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs but had disturbed his mother who lived in the house.
"This time they disturbed my mother, not the Menko Polhukam," Mahfud was quoted as saying in his tweet uploaded on Tuesday, December 1.
Mahfud said he always tried to avoid taking action against those who attacked him. This was done to prevent the public from being perceived as selfish and arbitrary public officials.
However, because he felt that the mob had disturbed his mother, he was ready to take action.
"I always try to avoid taking action against people who attack me personally for fear of being selfish and arbitrary because I have a position. I am ready to be firm for other cases that do not harm me," he said.
As previously reported, a 28-second video was circulating on the messaging application showing a crowd dominated by men in Muslim clothes visiting a house. In the video a narrator can be heard explaining that the video was taken in front of Mahfud MD's house in Pamekasan, Madura.
"Mahfud MD's house in Madura, Pamekasan, was raided by the masses," said the narrator in the video.
Receiving information about the raid, the police then dispersed the crowd that had arrived. Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Kombes Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, said that the dissolution was conducive and that the arrival of the masses at Mahfud MD's mother did not last long.
He said the Pamekasan Police Chief appealed to the masses to return to their homes. Furthermore, the masses dispersed themselves
"The police chief immediately stepped down to disperse preemptively or was advised and only lasted 5 minutes, (the masses) had returned to their respective vehicles," said Kombes Trunoyudo as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, December 1.
According to Trunoyudo, the arrival of the masses at the house was a spontaneous action by the masses after they expressed their opinion at the Police regarding Rizieq's summons and questioning at Polda Metro Jaya.
Kombes Truno urged the people of East Java not to be easily provoked in order to maintain a conducive situation in East Java. "To maintain a conducive climate for the East Java region, we urge the people not to be provoked by anything. Come on, join East Java," he said.
