At The IPEF Forum, Jokowi Emphasizes That Indonesia Is Always Open To Beneficial Cooperation

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo also attended a meeting of the country's leaders at The Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) which was held in San Francisco, United States of Sertikat, Thursday, November 16.

President Joko Widodo emphasized the need for cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Indonesia Regions to always be open to collaborating with anyone based on the principle of mutual benefit.

"The success of this IPEF will depend on the benefits that are mutually beneficial, which can be felt in real terms by all IPEF Partner Countries", he explained in his official statement, Sunday, November 19.

At the meeting, leaders from 14 IPEF member countries were also attended, but only 5 countries were given the opportunity to deliver their remarks, namely the United States, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and Vietnam, which were given the opportunity to deliver welcoming speeches regarding the views and expectations of the IPEF.

Meanwhile, the high-level meeting aims to convey the progress of the development and joint commitment that is to be achieved through the IPEF partnership.

Starting the meeting, President Joe Biden conveyed significant progress on the IPEF that had been carried out since the meeting of heads of government in Tokyo in May last year until now.

"All IPEF partner countries have achieved substantial and consensus progress for the 3 Pillars of the IPEF, namely Pillar II of the Supply Chain, Pillar III of the Clean Economy, and Pillar IV of the Fair Economy," said President Joe Biden.

Joe Biden also said that all IPEF partners had signed the MoU for the Pillar II Agreement on Supply Chains, which was expected to help identify supply chain barriers before the disruption.

Joe Biden said the pillar III agreement, namely the clean economy, is expected to create an acceleration of energy transition in the Indo-Pacific region through the creation of Government investments and a larger private sector in clean energy innovation and supporting infrastructure.

Several investment cooperations in the clean energy sector with the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia and India were also conveyed by President Joe Biden.

Furthermore, in the first pillar of trading, Joe Biden revealed that all IPEF partner countries have made efforts to demonstrate progress in achieving high standard trade regulations, including strengthening standard employment and environmental regulations.

IPEF partners are also committed to expanding cooperation to face challenges in the use of artificial intelligence, energy security, and semiconductors.

All partner countries IPEF have also agreed to launch a critical mineral dialogue to strengthen supply chains in the future and create jobs in the clean energy sector.

Furthermore, Joe Biden invites partner countries IPEF to strive to direct its policies to the application of high standards that are transparent, inclusive, and innovative.
