Lampung Provincial Government Encourages Additional Flight Routes To Increase The Economy

JAKARTA - The Lampung Provincial Government (Pemprov) continues to add flight routes between regions. This is to increase the growth of air and economic transportation modes in the region.

He said intense communication with related parties such as airlines, the Ministry of Transportation regarding the addition of domestic flight routes and the increase in the number of flight frequencies was carried out to support the growth of air transportation modes which had slumped during the last COVID-19 pandemic.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, this flight decreased in frequency from the previous 70 flights to only 20 flights. And there was also a reduction in aircraft, therefore the local government is trying to help it recover slowly," he said.

He explained that with the geographical condition of Lampung, which has many tourist destinations, it is hoped that it can also encourage growth in the air transportation sector.

"Currently we are communicating with Garuda Indonesia airlines to increase the frequency of domestic flights from once a day to three times a day. And yesterday there was a new route from Lampung-Bali from AirAsia. AirAsia will try to be guarded so that there are many aircraft movements here," he said.

According to him, previously at Radin Inten II Airport, it had served the Lampung-Batam, Lampung-Medan, Lampung-Surabaya, Lampung-Bengkulu, and Lampung-Jambi flight routes.

"With the flight route to Denpasar, we hope to develop other routes, such as to Yogyakarta. Because of the many requests from the people of Lampung who work and schools there. Hopefully this can continue to grow and grow, and the government will support and facilitate by collaborating with other regions," he added.

It is known based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Lampung Province, airports from departures and destinations for passenger arrivals, as well as unloading and loading aircraft goods in Lampung Province so far have served nine airport locations, namely Soekarno-Hatta Airport Jakarta (CGK), Hang Nadim Batam (BTH), Yogyakarta International (YIA), Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II Palembang (PLM), Husein Sastranegara Bandung (BDO), Halim Perdana Kusuma Jakarta (HLP), Sultan Thaha Syaifuddin Jambi (DJB), Fatmawati Soekarno Bengkulu (BKS) and M. Taufik Kiemas Lampung Airport (TFY).

However, in September 2023 it only served two destination airports, namely Soekarno-Hatta Airport Jakarta (CKG), and M.Taufik Kiemas Lampung Airport (TFY).

As well as the number of airplane passengers departing from Radin Inten II Airport in September 2023 was recorded at 40,424 people, which in total decreased by 2.60 percent compared to August 2023 with a total of 41,503 passengers.

Meanwhile, in the last year, September 2022 to September 2023, there was an increase of 50.48 percent, with 26,863 passengers in September 2022 and 40,424 people in September 2023.

And for the total number of passenger arrivals at Raden Inten II Airport in September 2023, there were 38,781 people, a decrease of 1.46 percent compared to August 2023 of 39,357 people. Furthermore, when compared to September 2022, the overall passenger arrivals increased by 58.15 percent from the previous arrival of 24,522 passengers.

It is known that Radin Inten II Airport in Lampung will get additional new domestic flight routes from AirAsia to Lampung-Bali.

Indonesia AirAsia informed that the domestic route connecting Bali and Lampung will start operating on January 17, 2024 with a flight frequency of four times a week.

Where flights on the Bali-Lampung route and vice versa will be served four times a week, namely on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

From Bali-Lampung with flight number QZ 182 with a departure schedule at 10.50 local time and Lampung-Bali flight number QZ 183 with a departure schedule at 12.25 local time.
