Accelerate Realization Of Rice Imports, Pelindo Ready To Unload 24 Hours Non-stop

JAKARTA - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo also help realize rice imports with a operating time pattern of 24 hours a day and 7 days a week (24/7).

Pelindo's President Director, Arif Suhartono, said that Pelindo has implemented a pattern of providing operational services 24/7 or non-stop since a few years ago. This working time applies to all types of commodities that will be dismantled and unloaded, including rice.

"Here we want to ensure that the smooth flow of goods at the port remains guaranteed," he said in his official statement Sunday, November 12.

Arif added that from January to October 2023, the company had dismantled imported rice at 16 ports managed by Pelindo by serving 138 ships and the volume of rice that was dismantled was 1,431,615 tons.

The unloading of imported rice was carried out at the Ports of Panjang, Bitung, Tanjung Wangi, Teluk Bayur, Tanjung Perak (Jamrud), Lhoksumawe, Malahayati, Belawan, Dumai, Tenau Kupang, Tanjung Emas, Tanjung Priok, Balikpapan, Ambon, Sorong and Papua.

"Whereas the rice dismantling process is carried out, the port managed by Pelindo is in principle ready to provide 24-7 services and of course the smooth flow of this item can be realized if all related elements can also provide a pattern of the same working time," said Arif.

The port 24-7 service must also be balanced, including BULOG, which is also able to prepare warehouses to operate 24 hours so that it will facilitate the dismantling and storage of rice for distribution to the community.
