BPS Notes Riau's Economy Grows 3.44 Percent In The Second Quarter Of 2023

JAKARTA - The Riau Province Central Statistics Agency (BPS) noted that the Riau economy in the third quarter of 2023 experienced growth of 3.44 percent compared to the second quarter of 2023 (q-to-q).

"The growth occurred in most business fields, which experienced significant growth, namely construction at 11.04 percent and procurement of electricity and gas at 10.93 percent," said Head of BPS Riau Asep Riyadi as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, November 11.

According to Asep, another significant contributor to Riau's economic growth, namely the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector, grew by 9.27 percent, health services and social activities by 8.97 percent.

The same growth is also in line with the business field which has a dominant role, namely the processing industry which also grew by 3.92 percent in the third quarter of 2023.

"However, in the third quarter of 2023, the structure of the Riau PDRB according to the business field at current prices was still dominated by agricultural, forestry and fishery business fields at 26.60 percent, followed by the processing industry at 26.45 percent, mining and quarrying by 20.68 percent," he said.

Meanwhile, business fields in the construction sector were recorded at 10.23 percent and large and retail trade and car and motorcycle repairs were recorded at 9.69 percent.

"The roles of the five business fields in the Riau economy reached 93.64 percent in the same quarter," he concluded.
