Minister Basuki Will Discuss 4 Important Issues At WWF Bali

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono revealed four important issues that will be brought to the 10th World Water Forum in Bali, in May 2024.

"First, world leaders are encouraged to contribute to political policies on water and solutions. Second, the issue of the importance of clean water and sanitation for all, which is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)," Minister Basuki said in a written statement, quoted Friday, October 13.

Basuki said that the third issue that must be discussed in this meeting is the issue of international cooperation in Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), especially in Government Cooperation with Business Entities (KPBU) or Public Private Partnership (PPP).

"Finally, the issue of the relationship between water, food and energy. This must be prioritized at the policy level and must be in line with different national conditions and needs," he said.

The 10th World Water Forum 2nd Stakeholder Consultation Meeting (SCM) must also encourage collaboration between all stakeholders participating in the political, thematic, and regional processes.

"We are gathered here for two main purposes, first to discuss and interconnect the thematic, regional and political processes. Next, plan future steps, including what actions will be taken," said Basuki.

He also hopes that the 10th World Water Forum in Bali will provide an excellent platform to provide real action-oriented results based on Bandung Spirit which calls for a sense of solidarity and cooperation between countries, or what is called for water justice in order to overcome global challenges related to the water sector.

Meanwhile, President of the World Water Council (WWC) Loic Fauchon said participation from the participants was very important because it marked the success of the 10th World Water Forum's 2nd Stakeholder Consultation Meeting (SCM).

"I thank the Government of Indonesia, President Jokowi, and Minister Basuki for their cooperation in preparing the 10th World Water Forum for success and more than that can be useful (useful)," he said.
