JAKARTA - The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) evaluates fishery business licensing ahead of the implementation of the Measurable Fishing (PIT) policy.

The PIT program itself is scheduled to take effect in early 2024.

The fishing fisheries business licenses that were evaluated were Fishery Business Permits (SIUP), Business Licensing for Fish Fishing Subsectors (SIPI), and Business Licensing for Fish Transportation Subsectors (SIKPI).

"We are evaluating permits for permits issued by the center, in this case the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and Permits issued by the Governor," said Acting Director General of Capture Fisheries Agus Suherman in a written statement, quoted Thursday, October 5.

The implementation of the licensing evaluation is contained in the Circular Letter of the Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Number B.1569/MEN-KP/X/2023 which was issued on October 2, 2023. The evaluation of licensing is part of the stage of implementing the measurable fishing policy in 2023.

Pada tahap evaluasi, pihaknya meminta pelaku usaha perikanan melaporkan hasil evaluasi mandiri terhadap SIUP, SIPI, SIKPI, serta operasional kapal pen fishing sepanjang tahun ini.

Reporting is carried out in an easy and concise format and is reported electronically through the SILAT/SIMKADA application in the Mandiri Evaluation module no later than October 27, 2023.

Agus appealed to business actors to report data according to their actual condition.

This is because the independent report from business actors will be used as a consideration for his party in making important decisions. One of them is regarding the reduction or revocation of business allocations in SIUP without an application.

Then, to grant business permits for fishing sub-sectors and fish transportation according to the PIT format in the fishing season in 2023 and 2024, as well as the provision of the amount of fishing quota for each catcher in the 2024 season.

"Business actors who do not report data on the results of self-evaluation according to the set time limit, later the Standard Implementation Operations (SLO) and Sailing Approval (PB) cannot be issued. Then, the PIT application account is also frozen," he said.

According to Agus, during this transition period (to the implementation of PIT), more effort or effort must be made. Transformation will provide a leap of fundamental improvement in national fisheries governance to realize the prosperity and welfare of the community, as well as maintain ecological sustainability.

Meanwhile, the Director of Licensing and Service at the Directorate General of Capture Fisheries at the KKP, Ukon Ahmad Furkon, ensured the readiness of technological devices for the smooth stages of licensing evaluation.

In addition to technical readiness, said Ukon, socialization of the stages of implementing PIT includes procedures for reporting the results of the evaluation of business licensing was carried out.
