JAKARTA - PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) won the Main Award at the IDX Channel Anugerah Innovation Indonesia (ICAII) 2023, thanks to the innovation of the digital technology-based mining monitoring system, Quarry Mining Command Center (QMCC) for Good Mining Practices Solution, which was implemented at the GIS Tuban Factory, East Java.

The award for the Internal Process category was handed over by the Director of PT Kliring Penjaminan Efek Indonesia (KPEI), Umi Kulsum to SVP of Human Capital SIG, Sumarlan Wibawa at Mainhall Bursa Efek Indonesia on Wednesday, September 20.

ICAII 2023 is an awarding and appreciation event for companies that show superior innovation initiatives, in the sense of having a broad, sustainable, and high novelty.

GIS Corporate Secretary Vita Mahreyni said the spirit of Go Beyond Next encourages GIS to innovate with various breakthroughs and continue to exceed reach to deliver quality solutions and products, create advantages in operational aspects, and professional services with sustainable technology. QMCC is one of the many innovations in GIS to support the smooth operation of mining that pays attention to Health and Work Safety (K3).

"Innovation is absolutely carried out to maintain the sustainability of the Company's business in the future. Through innovation, GIS is committed to becoming the largest building material solution provider in the region by presenting quality products and services, competitive, fast, and timely delivery (Quality, Cost, Delivery/ QCD)," said Vita Mahreyni, in her statement, quoted Friday, September 22.

The QMCC mining monitoring system works using a digital-based integrated monitoring application. All information from the surveillance application is displayed on the control center screen and monitored by officers who act as operational command. Thus, the presence of this QMCC innovation helps the Company ensure the implementation of the rules of good mining practice and K3 culture in mining operations goes well.

QMCC is the work of the innovation team of the Department of Mining & Raw Materials of the GIS Tuban Factory, East Java, which has won various prestigious awards. QMCC won Champion I at the GIS Group Innovation Award (SIGIA) 2022. In addition, QMCC also won two awards at the 2022 Karya Mutu Gathering and National Productivity (TKMPN), namely the Diamond title as well as being named Best Performance.

The initiator of QMCC innovation who is also the Manager of Mining Operation SIG, M. Ardy Zailani said, the implementation of QMCC helps optimize surveillance activities and makes mining operations more effective and efficient compared to direct supervision that requires a lot of coordination and time. QMCC also ensures that field data needs are actually distributed and accurate so that decision making can be done quickly and precisely so that target cost and quality can be optimal.

Furthermore, M. Ardy Zailani explained, the background for the QMCC innovation is because it sees challenges and opportunities. The challenges of safety, quality and productivity create opportunities to optimize resources and production costs. Because currently information sources are very accessible, there are opportunities for technological improvement that also help solve work problems or challenges that have been difficult to solve.

"Regarding QMCC innovation, we see that in mining activities there is improvement that can help the company's business processes and even cost transformation. Since the implementation of QMCC in 2022 until now, the Tuban SIG Factory has recorded zero fatality and accidents in mining operations. QMCC has also contributed to the efficiency of mining operational costs and raw materials worth IDR 4.2 billion/year. This is not the end because we know technology continues to grow and we continue to open up opportunities to develop the technology we have implemented," explained Ardy Zailani.

This award related to innovation complements the achievements of GIS in the newly achieved Governance, namely the Best State Owned Enterprises and Top 50 Issuers awards with the Biggest Market Capitalization at The 14th IICD Corporate Governance Award 2023 organized by the Indonesia Institute for Corporate Directorship (IICD) in collaboration with Perum LKBN Antara at Graha CIMB Niaga, Jakarta, on Monday 18 September.

The 14th IICD Corporate Governance Award 2023 is an appreciation for issuers who have implemented GCG practices in the previous year and are not related to serious cases that are contrary to GCG principles. Thus, GIS is considered to have implemented good governance (GCG).
