BSI Records Sustainable Financial Financing Reaching IDR 52.6 Trillion in the Second Quarter of 2023

JAKARTA - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia Tbk (BSI) recorded that the company's sustainable financial financing reached IDR 52.6 trillion in the second quarter of 2023 or grew 4.99 percent compared to the same period last year (year on year/yoy).

"BSI is also consistent in implementing environment, social and governance (ESG). BSI's sustainable financial financing portfolio reached IDR 52.6 trillion or 23.77 percent of BSI's total financing, growing 4.99 percent year on year," said the President Director BSI Hery Gunardi at a press conference in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, September 20.

To encourage the implementation of sustainable finance, Hery said that BSI also encourages sustainable operation efforts through emission reduction and environmental preservation programs, including the green building office of the BSI Landmark Building in Aceh and the use of solar panels at BSI Mayestik and Mataram.

Apart from that, accelerating the implementation of the use of Battery-based Electric Motorized Vehicles (KBLBB) by providing 35 units of electric motorbikes for operational vehicles at the BSI mosque rest area Cipali KM 166A, as well as paperless documents via BSI e-doc.

Until June 2023, BSI has distributed zakat, infaq and benevolent funds amounting to IDR 122.2 billion which includes various socio-economic programs such as the development of 15 BSI villages spread across 10 provinces.

In the spiritual aspect, Hery said that BSI manages mosques, Dai programs and prayer rooms. For the people aspect, BSI provides achievement scholarships through the BSI Achievement Scholarship program.

Meanwhile, in terms of charity and environment, BSI provided compensation for 2,222 orphans, homecoming disabled children, assistance for slaughtered animals for 1444 H, as well as the BSI sustainable movement program in the form of tree planting, 50 RVM machines, and releasing 200 hatchlings into the sea.
