PT PLN (Persero) is ready to implement the government's decision through the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) to maintain electricity tariffs for 13 groups of non-subsidized customers without increasing or fixed. This decision applies to electricity tariffs in the fourth quarter or during the October-December 2023 period.

PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said PLN was ready to implement the government's decision regarding electricity tariffs for the fourth quarter of 2023. Furthermore, PLN is committed to providing reliable electricity supply for the entire community and business sector to emerging industries in the country.

"The presence of electricity is very important for the movement of the economy. We continue to ensure that customers can continue to get reliable and quality electricity," said Darmawan, Monday, September 18.

Previously, the Director General of Electricity at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jisman P Hutajulu, said that the government was committed to maintaining people's purchasing power and competitiveness in the business and industrial sectors. Although, based on the calculation of macroeconomic parameters for the fourth quarter of 2023, electricity rates should be adjusted.

The four parameters are an exchange rate of Rp. 14,927.54 per US dollar, an ICP of 71.51 US dollars per barrel, an inflation of 0.15 percent and a Reference Coal Price (HBA) of 70 US dollars per ton.

"Based on the four parameters, electricity tariff adjustments for non-subsidized customers should have increased compared to tariffs in the third quarter of 2023. However, in order to maintain people's purchasing power and industrial competitiveness at this time, the government has decided that electricity rates will not change or remain," he said.

Jisman also emphasized that electricity rates for 25 subsidized groups of customers did not increase. Electricity subsidies will still be provided for social customers, poor households, small businesses, small industries, and customers from micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

"The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources continues to encourage PT PLN (Persero) to always try to take operational efficiency steps and spur sales of electricity more aggressively," added Jisman.
