Expand Tanah Abang Station, Ministry Of Transportation Prepares A Budget Of IDR 380 Trillion

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) will expand the Tanah Abang New Station area. The funds prepared are worth IDR 380 billion.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said the expansion of the station area was due to the accumulation of passengers during leaving and returning from work hours.

Approximately (the budget) is Rp380 trillion. We hope that next year it will be completed and we will not press it in Tanah Abang anymore. It is being carried out now," he said at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 30.

To support the implementation of this project, the Ministry of Transportation received an Indicative Ceiling for the 2024 Fiscal Year of IDR 38.477 trillion.

The station construction budget is included in the budget post of the Directoral General of Railways which received an allocation of Rp9.68 trillion.

Accommodate 300,000 Passengers A Day

As previously reported, the development of Tanah Abang Station has officially begun.

This step was taken to anticipate the increasing number of commuterline passengers or Jabodetabek KRL at Tanah Abang Station.

The development was marked by a groundbreaking activity attended by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi together with the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono and the President Director of PT KAI Didiek Hartantyo, at the Tanah Abang Station Depot, Jakarta.

Minister of Transportation Budi Karya said that with this development, later Tanah Abang Station could increase its capacity three times, from 100,000 to 300,000 passengers per day.

Budi hopes that the development carried out can increase accessibility and community mobility from DKI Jakarta to buffer cities and vice versa.

This Tanah Abang Station is a TOD (Transit Oriented Area) center that serves trade and office activities in Central Jakarta. Therefore, development must be carried out immediately and synergize with each other, in order to provide better services to the community," he said in an official statement, Sunday, April 30.

For your information, the development of Tanah Abang Station is carried out in stages. Phase 1 is targeted for completion by the end of this year. The investment value allocated in phase I reached IDR 380.93 billion.

The developments carried out include the construction of new stations, the addition of train lines from four to six lines, the addition of platforms from two to four, and the arrangement of intermodal integration facilities.

The scope of work from each party, namely, the Ministry of Transportation built a new station, emblasement (rel, signaling), the People's Crossing Bridge (JPO) on the railway line.

Meanwhile, the DKI Provincial Government has built road widening and intermodal integration facilities.

Meanwhile, PT KAI built a parking area, demolished depots and existing Tanah Abang Stations.

The station will be built with a main building area of 12,000 square meters, and with a 2-story building, equipped with commercial buildings and supporting facilities and disability facilities.
