JAKARTA - Executive Director of the Reforminer Institute, Komaidi Notonegoro, responded to the government's policy of starting a 3 kg LPG purchase program that is required to use an ID card.

Komaidi assessed that on the one hand this policy was the good intention of the government in terms of structuring in terms of eligible customers. But from the other hand, there will also be complexities in technical matters

"Then the calculations between the costs incurred in implementing the program with potential that are saved are still quite valuable or not?" said Komaidi Notonegoro in the Market Review, Tuesday, August 29.

Komaidi is worried that the implementation of this policy will cost quite a lot of money to involve other institutions such as the Police, BPH Migas and Pertamina.

"If this is an additional main task force for them, of course there is a budget that must be prepared to do that. With later those who are saved on target, is it quite commensurate or not?" said Komaidi.

Based on the Reforminer Institute's study, he said, if the mechanism still provides subsidies for goods, there will still be deviations or irregularities, regardless of the amount of subsidies provided.

"Because ideally if we want to be right on target, the subsidy goes directly to people. So it is mapped out who has the right because it will be synergized later," explained Komaidi.

Komaidi also provided notes about Indonesia entering its political year in 2024. By starting to implement this policy on January 1, 2024, it is feared that this policy will increase tensions next year.

"Don't let this commotion cause the tension to be even higher," concluded Komaidi.

Just so you know, starting January 1, 2024, only users who have been registered can buy 3 kg LPG cylinders.

This policy aims so that the subsidies provided by the Government can be fully enjoyed by groups of people who cannot afford or are more targeted.

For this reason, since March 1, 2023, the Government through Pertamina has registered or collected data on 3 kg LPG users in Sub-Distributors or Pangkalan into a website-based system as an initial stage of the 3 Kg Cylinder LPG Distribution Program on Target.
