Pertamina International Shipping Increases Gas And Chemical Investments

JAKARTA - The Subholding Integrated Marine Logistics of PT Pertamina (Persero), namely PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) plans to develop its business in accordance with the government's plan to actively carry out energy transitions.

PIS Business Planning Director, Wisnu Medan Santoso said, thus PIS began to shift its business towards gas.

"If we look at our investment profile, we invest more in gas ships and chemical ships," he said in an online discussion, Tuesday, August 29.

He further explained that the company's investment posture is more inclined towards gas because gas is considered the most capable of replacing fossil energy in Indonesia and in the regional area. Meanwhile, for chemical, he said, the beum was still replaced in Indonesia.

"Because in terms of transportation, EVs have been replaced, but the need for chemical production is still there. So that's one sector that we will continue to pursue," explained Wisnu.

PIS is still a gas in the form of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Wisnu said that in the near future his party will start investing in Liqufied Natural Gas (LNG) carriers.

"Please pray, hopefully in the near future we can finalize it and we can have an LNG ship in the future," explained Wisnu.

Wisnu added that the trend of PIS growth throughout 2023 is still very good. Even though in terms of asset prices, he still tends to be high, he believes there is still room for PIS to grow, one of which is the captive market.

"The market is very good, even in 2024 it will still be very bullish," he said.

According to Wisnu, this was also driven by the upstream sector which was excited again, such as Masela and IDD, each of which would be developed in the future.

"Fortunately upstream Indonesia, mostly offshore, we see that the role of PIS can take part there," concluded Wisnu.
