Jokowi Raises Civil Servant Salaries To TNI/Polri And Retired, How Much Budget Is Prepared?

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo decided to raise salaries for State Civil Apparatus (ASN) including Civil Servants (PNS), to the TNI/Polri and retirees next year, after no increase for four years.

Then, how much budget is prepared by the government for this salary increase?

Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani said the government has prepared a budget of IDR 52 trillion in 2024 to fulfill the policy of increasing ASN salaries including civil servants, TNI/Polri and retirees.

"The total required budget is IDR 52 trillion," said Sri Mulyani, in the press conference for the 2024 RAPBN and Financial Notes, written Friday, August 18.

The details are for ASN including civil servants, and the TNI/Polri budget center Rp9.4 trillion. Meanwhile, the ASN budget area is Rp25.8 trillion. As for the retired budget is Rp17 trillion.

Sri Mulyani said, next year the government will increase the salaries of civil servants to the TNI/Polri by 8 percent and retirees by 12 percent. He explained that the difference in increase was because retirees did not receive performance allowances (tukin).

"If you look at the growth of the ASN increase, the TNI/Polri are 8 percent while retirees are retired because there are no tukins, the increase is higher," he explained.

Previously, President Jokowi brought good news to all State Civil Apparatus (ASN) including civil servants and the TNI/Polri regarding the increase in salaries. After no increase for four years, Jokowi announced that he would raise the salary by 8 percent.

This was conveyed by Jokowi in his speech at the 2024 RAPBN, at the DPR Building, Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 16.

"The 2024 RAPBN proposes to improve income in the form of salary increases for Central and Regional/TNI/Polri ASN by 8 percent," said Jokowi.

Not only ASN salaries, Jokowi also announced a 12 percent increase in retirees.

For your information, traditionally the increase in ASN salaries was conveyed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia during the Speech of the Financial Note. However, in the eight years of Jokowi's leadership, this announcement is more often absent. Jokowi rarely increases the salaries of ASN or Civil Servants. In fact, since 2014 the salaries of civil servants have only increased twice.

Jokowi said this increase was to ensure that the implementation of the transformation was effective, so bureaucratic reform must continue to be strengthened in order to realize an efficient, competent, professional, and integrity central and regional bureaucracy.

"The implementation of bureaucratic reform must be carried out consistently and successfully. Improvement of welfare, allowances and remuneration of ASN is carried out based on performance and productivity," he said.
