JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono inspected the progress of the East Cross National Road (Jalintim) for Sumatra in South Sumatra Province (Sumsel), on Friday, August 11.
The 30-kilometer (km) road project is carried out through the Government Cooperation with Business Entity (PPP) scheme.
On that occasion, Minister Basuki checked a number of sidewalks and road bodies on Jalan Letjen H. Alamsyah Ratu Perwiranegara (3.15 km) and Jalan Mayjen Yusuf Singadekane (5.2 km).
" Pay close attention to the quality of the roads that are built, they must be strong, last long. For sidewalks, roads must be done neatly. Sections that are not neat so that they are repaired," Basuki said in his official statement, on Saturday, August 12.
Basuki assessed that East Java is a solid route that connects Palembang City to Betung-Jambi along 30 km, so it has an important role.
"This path is repaired and arranged again with the aim of improving smoothness and safety. So, the quality must be good in all parts of the road," he said.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR Hedy Rahadian advised contractors and the South Sumatra National Road Implementation Center (BBPJN) to check the strength of concrete on the roads in all repaired sections.
"Because many of these sections are passed by vehicles with heavy tonnages such as logistics trucks, strong concrete road quality is needed," he said.
The main scope of East Java's preservation includes Jalan Srijaya Raya (6.30 km), Jalan Mayjen Yusuf Singadekane (5.2 km), Jalan Letjen H. Alassyah Ratu Perwiranegara (3.15 km), Jalan Soekarno-Hatta (8.3 km), Alang-alang Lebar Terminal Access Road (4 km), and Jalan Sultan Mahammad Badarudin II (2.9 km).
