Inaugurated By The Minister Of Energy And Mineral Resources, Pertamina Jajak Sumur Gulomo Exploration Of MNK In Rokan

JAKARTA - Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) inaugurated the first tax of non-conventional oil and gas exploration Gulomo wells (MNK) in Rokan.

"This is the first moment to be able to take advantage of the considerable potential that we have and indeed we have to exploit it so that we can guarantee national energy security for the community," said Arifin at the inauguration of the Gulamo Well Drilling Exploration of MNK, Friday, July 28.

Arifin said that the potential for MNK in the Rokan Block reached 1.28 billion barrels.

Of course, if this can be used optimally, it will reduce Indonesia's oil imports, which reach 1 million barrels of oil.

The drilling of the Gulamo Exploration Well of MNK, added Arifin, is expected not to stop only at the sample test stage and analyze wells, but must also be continued in the future.

"After testing the sample and analysis, it is continued as a fracturing pilot well so that it can prove the productivity and initial development of MNK in Indonesia," he explained.

He also appreciated the performance of all parties who have supported the drilling of the first MNK Exploration Gulam Well Drill, and continued to prioritize work safety.

"Congratulations to all levels of Pertamina, Provincial Government, SKK Migas and the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, we are proud of you," said Arifin.

On the same occasion, the Head of SKK Migas Dwi Soetjipto said that the drilling of the MNK exploration Gulomo well was one of four SKK Migas strategies in the road to giant discovery of oil and natural gas in Indonesia.

"To explore the hydrocarbon potential in north Sumatran basin, which is expected to have an inplace potential of 1.86 billion barrels of oil and gas of 2.4 tcf trillion cubic feet of gas," he said.

He also said that this basin or basin is part of the semifinals of the basic Sumatran that holds even greater potential for the MNK, so what this is doing is still part of the central Sumatran Basin.

"Of course we all hope that this sugarlo well can pave the way to access mnk," added Dwi.

Meanwhile, PHR President Director Chalid Said Salim said that PHR had collaborated with EOG Resources to conduct a potential evaluation study (technical) of MNK Rokan Block. EOG is a company from the United States that has proven successful in developing MNK resources in the United States.

"With the experience that EOG has and is supported by KESDM, it is hoped that this effort will produce results to find even larger oil and gas reserves to realize national energy security and achieve the production target of 1 million barrels by 2030," said Chalid.

For information, the potential for MNK in Rokan WK is in the formation of Pematang Brownshale and Lower Red Bed at a depth of more than 6,000 ft.

The well of MNK Gulamo with a total depth plan of 8,559 ft Measured Depth (MD) is one of two vertical exploration wells planned by PT PHR, as the exploration stage of MNK Rokan.

The exploration well drilling operation of MNK Gulamo will use a large rig with 1,500 Horse Power (HP) personnel. By comparison, conventional oil and gas exploration and exploitation operations in the Rokan working area generally use Rig 350 HP / 550 HP / 750 HP. A fairly wide well pad area is needed, around 2.5 ha or 2.5 times wider than well pad in general. At the development stage, well pad can accommodate around 8 head of development wells.
