Purwodadi Market Revitalization Project Enters The Construction Stage In August 2023, Minister Basuki: Total Budget Of IDR 110 Billion

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono visited Purwodadi Market in North Bengkulu Regency, Bengkulu Province, Friday, July 21.

On this occasion, PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono confirmed that the construction of Purwodadi Market, which was hit by a fire on April 5, 2021, will begin in August 2023.

Construction will be carried out for a capacity of around 1,004 kiosks with a construction period of about nine months.

"The total budget is IDR 110 billion," he said in a written statement, Friday, July 21.

Basuki said that Purwodadi Market revitalization aims to improve the economy and welfare of the people in various regions.

"The Ministry of PUPR not only builds large infrastructure such as toll roads and dams, but also people's infrastructure, such as markets and schools," he said.

The rebuilding of the market is carried out by increasing the market function as a means of people's trade, so that it becomes a safe, comfortable, clean, well-organized, and more aesthetic (not slum) building.

This market rehabilitation was carried out by the Bengkulu Regional Settlement Infrastructure Center (BPPW) of the Directorate General of Human Settlements. The rehabilitation of Purwodadi Market in North Bengkulu was carried out on an area of about 2.2 hectares (ha) consisting of three blocks A, B, C, each two floors.

The Block A market area will be used as a wet and non-food market area, while the Block B area is for dry and non-food markets, and Block C for ready-to-eat food areas.

The Purwodadi Market Building in North Bengkulu will be equipped with car and motorcycle parking, as well as plazas.

For your information, market renovation by the Ministry of PUPR is the mandate of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 43 of 2019 concerning Development, Rehabilitation, or People's Market Renovation, Higher Education Infrastructure, Islamic Religious Universities, and Basic and Secondary Education Units.

This rehabilitation is expected to facilitate buying and selling transactions, increase the convenience of traders and buyers, and improve the community's economy.
