JAKARTA - The National Food Agency (NFA) has checked the price of chickens at the Palmerah Market, Jakarta. The check was carried out in response to news about the surge in the price of broiler chicken at the consumer level in the DKI Jakarta area.
Head of NFA Arief Prasetyo Adi said there were a number of findings regarding the real price of chicken meat at Palmerah Market. Arief also straightened out President Jokowi's findings regarding the increase in the price of chickens to reach Rp50,000 per kilogram (kg).
"I was with friends from Pasar Jaya to check directly at Palmerah Market. In Palmerah, the price of Rp50,000 chicken is chicken fillet. So it must be straightened out that the fillet chicken isboneless (without bones and skin) for Rp50,000," he told reporters, Tuesday, June 27.
Furthermore, Arief said that the boneless was different from the carcass. For the price of carkas chicken, said Arief, it is priced at a different price depending on the weight of the chicken.
"Then the price of carkas chicken is 1.3 KG, 1.4 KG, the price is Rp. 43,000, Rp. 44,000. So if converted the price is still around Rp. 36,000 (per KG) and that's still a fair price," he explained.
Arief said, there is always the potential for price increases ahead of Religious and National Holidays (HBKN) such as ahead of Eid al-Adha which is caused by increased demand, but it is usually still within reasonable limits.
"In D-2 Lebaran, usually the increase is up to 5 to 10 percent, it can still be tolerated, but if it reaches Rp50,000 per kg, that's an number that cannot be tolerated. After we check and make sure it's the price for fillet chicken," he said.
Arief also ensured that his party together with the Governor of DKI Jakarta had coordinated to strengthen the role of Perumda Dharma Jaya, BUMD food DKI Jakarta, so that it could support the stability of broiler meat prices in the DKI Jakarta area ahead of Eid al-Adha.

In order to reach the community massively, Arief said that his party together with the DKI Jakarta Food, Maritime and Agriculture Security Service (KPKP) will immediately prepare locations in urban villages.
"The game will range from IDR 36,000 per KG, so that people can get a good price of chicken meat," he said.
