Visiting Mahfud MD's Office, Jusuf Hamka Explains The Issue With The Ministry Of Finance

JAKARTA Entrepreneur Jusuf Hamka today is known to have visited the office of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenko Polhukam) to explain the problems experienced by his company, namely PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk (CMNP) with the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu).

On that occasion Jusuf said that he was accepted by the Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

"Earlier I was summoned by Mr. Sesmenko (Secretary) Polhukam to explain what the problem is," he told the media crew on Tuesday, June 13.

According to Jusuf, the meeting was intended to provide an initial picture of the polemic that occurred between CMNP and the Ministry of Finance.

He stated that he would meet directly with the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD to convey in detail the case.

"So it will be more complete later. God willing, I will be summoned by Mr. Mahfud, whether today or tomorrow. Later, Mr. Mahfud will inform you," he said.

Jusuf added that he expressed his appreciation to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs who was willing to support the best settlement between the two parties.

Indonesia needs leaders like Mr. Mahfud MD, who are knights in my opinion. If the country is wrong, he dares to say wrong. (Likewise) If the country is right, he dares to collect (debt) to the private sector," he asserted.

The CMNP boss expressed high hopes that this problem would be resolved quickly. He also wants every right and obligation of citizens to be upheld without any difference.

"God willing, everything will be resolved properly. I am an ordinary person, a small people who only ask for justice. Hopefully this beloved country still has a sense of justice for its citizens," he said.

"If the country cannot obey the law, what about its citizens who are forced to obey the law? I am Mr. Jokowi, Mr. Mahfud is a good person and a mandate and a knight. Mrs. Minister (Sri Mulyani) is also a good person who is a trustworthy person. The Minister's subordinate is Wallahualam, "he added.

As previously reported by VOI, Jusuf Hamka demanded a government debt of Rp800 billion to his company PT Citra Marga Nusaphala Persada Tbk (CMNP) which began with a deposit of Rp78 billion at Bank Yakin Makmur (Yama) which was liquidated by the government during the 1998 monetary crisis.

The man who is familiarly called Babah Alun admitted that he had not yet received his deposit money after the government argued that CMNP was affiliated with the owner of Bank Yama, namely Siti Hardijanti Rukmana or Tutut Suharto. This accusation was denied by Jusuf Hamka until he filed a lawsuit to the Supreme Court and won in 2015, so the government was required to pay CMNP deposits at Bank Yama along with 2 percent interest per month.

Jusuf Hamka admitted that he had written with the Directorate General of State Assets (DJKN) of the Ministry of Finance in mid-2019 but then communication stalled and DJKN stated that it was verifying at the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs.

Due to the verification process that had been going on for three years without results, Jusuf Hamka finally spoke up again to collect the government's debt.
