The Minister Of SOEs Expressed The Reason For Re-Selecting Buwas To Be Bulog Boss

JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir said he had a reason to re-elect Budi Waseso or Buwas as President Director of Perum Bulog.

According to Erick, Buwas has succeeded in leading Bulog since his first appointment in 2018.

For this success, said Erick, he again appointed Buwas to lead the food SOE.

"We also see that what Mr. Budi Waseso has done is already underway. And we hope that with now that there is a contradiction in whether production imports, it is better for us to continue his leadership," he said when met at the Ministry of SOEs, written Thursday, May 4.

Erick admitted that he had directly checked Buwas' success while leading Bulog. One of them, Bulog's efforts to deal with food problems in the country.

"And I think, I checked the field several times Bulog's condition was quite controlled," he said.

Even so, Erick emphasized that Buwas' appointment was based on the assessment of the Final Assessment Team (TPA). Where, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was also involved in the process.

"We have a TPA process and the TPA process involves the President. We will see the context, of course with conditions rather than uncertain situations and there is el nino, this means we must also be aware of Indonesia's food situation," said Erick.

Previously, it was reported that the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir again appointed the former Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) as the President Director of Perum Bulog.

Quoted from Bulog's official Instagram, the appointment of Buwas as the President Director of Bulog was stated in accordance with a copy of the Decree of the Minister of SOEs number SK-91/MBU/04/2023 dated 27 April 2023 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of Members of the Board of Directors of Perum Bulog.
