The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) is collaborating with an airline from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Emirates, to work together in efforts to develop marketing in the tourism sector and the creative economy (parekraf) in Indonesia.
This collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy on Tuesday, May 2, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The MoU was signed by the Deputy for Marketing of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ni Made Ayu Marthini and Senior Vice President Commercial Operations Emirates Orhan Abbas.
Menparekraf Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno said the collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is expected to continue, thus opening up opportunities for strategic cooperation with other relevant stakeholders to jointly advance tourism and the creative economy in Indonesia.
"Of course our main goal is that this collaboration can increase the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia, which in turn can contribute to increasing state foreign exchange income from the tourism sector and increasing employment opportunities, so that currently we focus on developing quality and sustainable tourism, in order to attract more quality tourists," Sandiaga said in a press release, Thursday, May 4.
Meanwhile, Deputy for Marketing at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Ni Made Ayu Marthini said this activation was a tangible form of joint marketing carried out by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to develop marketing of Indonesian tourism destinations around the world by utilizing networks from Emirates, thereby increasing the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia.
Emirates is one of the largest international airlines in the world to have more than 140 flight routes in nearly 80 countries around the world and currently the airline has two flight routes to two cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta and Denpasar with flight frequencies twice a day.
"Emiorates is also one of the strategic partners of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and has previously collaborated. Therefore, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy continues to encourage Emirates to add more new routes from Dubai to Indonesia, especially international routes to five super priority destinations in Indonesia," said Made.
In addition, Made said, this collaboration is a strategic step for the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy to promote Indonesia's dollar brands around the world, so that it can enhance the image of Indonesian tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic some time ago.
"Currently, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is intensively collaborating with various airlines both nationally and internationally to increase and expand connectivity to key destinations in an effort to achieve the national target of 8.5 million foreign tourists with 124,800 people from the Middle East region and 1.4 billion movements of domestic tourists," he said.
In addition, Orhan Abbas, who represents Emirates, said that this collaboration is expected to open up opportunities to answer the challenges of increasing customer demand to fly to Indonesia via scheduled flights to Denpasar and Jakarta.
