The development was marked by a groundbreaking activity attended by the Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi together with the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono and the President Director of PT KAI Didiek Hartantyo, at the Tanah Abang Station Depot, Jakarta.
Minister of Transportation Budi Karya said the development was carried out to anticipate the increasing number of CommuterLine KRL passengers. Given that the station is one of the highest intensity stations in the capital after Manggarai and Bogor stations.
"Today we are building Tanah Abang so that it can increase its capacity 3 times, from 100,000 to 300,000 passengers per day," he said in an official statement, Sunday, April 30.

Similarly, KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo revealed that he would continue to improve services at Tanah Abang Station.
