President Director Becomes Suspect In Corruption Case, Waskita Karya Management Opens Voice

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (AGO) has named the President Director of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Destiawan Soewardjono as a suspect in the alleged corruption case of irregularities or the use of PT Waskita Beton Precast funds for the 2016-2020 period.

"We can convey that the ongoing legal cases have no significant impact on the Company's activities, both operationally and financially," the management wrote in a statement, Saturday, April 29.

Management continues, the Company will continue to run all programs and strategies according to the target.

"In carrying out its business process, Waskita Karya is always guided by the principles of Good Corporate Governance (GCG) and Waskita continues to be committed so that business processes are carried out in accordance with high principles of professionalism and integrity," concluded the management.

Previously, Destiawan was named a suspect for allegedly ordering and approving the disbursement of Supply Chain Financing (SCF) funds using fake supporting documents.

Then, the funds were used to cover the company's debt caused by the payment of fictitious projects it made.

Destiawan who served as President Director of PT Waskita Karya (Persero) Tbk for the period July 2020 until now has been detained for 20 days since Friday, April 28.

For his actions, the suspect is suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) and Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 as amended and supplemented by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.
