To Margonda Flats Depok, Minister Basuki Disbursed The Benefits Of Living In The TOD Area

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) accompanied by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono and Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir inaugurated the Susun (Rusun) Samesta Mahata Margonda, Depok, today.

The flat was built with the concept of an integrated Transit Oriented Development (TOD) with the Pondok Cina Train Station.

Minister Basuki, who accompanied President Jokowi, said that by choosing to live in TOD flats like this, the community could indirectly save transportation costs.

Moreover, there is a guarantee that the train schedule or KRL will be more certain and currently PT KAI's services are getting better for the community.

"One of the advantages of living in TOD is that people can be escorted to pick up trains. People are easier to move because of the integration of housing with mass transportation," Minister Basuki said in a written statement, Thursday, April 13.

Meanwhile, President Jokowi said that the flats that are integrated with the Electric Rail Train station (KRL) were built for the community, especially the millennial generation so that they can have a place to live that is close to public transportation, at affordable prices.

"Those who buy housing have a bonus for getting access to train stations. This means that after waking up, taking a shower, they can immediately take a KRL. So, it does not depend on private vehicles that often create traffic jams, especially in Jabodetabek," he said.

President Jokowi hopes that similar housing can be built in other big cities where congestion rates are high, such as in Jabodetabek, Bandung, Makassar, and others, especially on land owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) which has not been properly utilized.

"We have to build as many houses as possible like this. Land is provided by PT KAI in collaboration with Perumnas and the Ministry of PUPR for construction," he added.

For your information, the government through the Ministry of PUPR and the Ministry of SOEs continue to encourage the construction of vertical housing as part of the Transit Oriented Development (TOD) concept, which is an area that is integrated with public transportation nodes. The construction of vertical housing is carried out in an integrated manner with train stations.

The construction of 940 units of the Samesta Mahata Margonda Flats is a synergy between Perum Perumnas and PT KAI. The target market is urban millennials.
