Commission VII Will Call For Accident In Jabung, PetroCHina Is Still Waiting For Investigation Results

JAKARTA - Commission VII of the DPR RI plans to summon the directors of the oil and gas company PetroChina International Jabung Ltd, Tanjung Jabung Barat for the incident of the death of three workers in the NEB#9 area of Blok Jabung, Sunday 18 December 2022. Responding to this, Vice President Human Resources and Relations PetroChina Dencio Renato Boele stated that his party is still waiting for the results of the investigation that is still being carried out by the police. "The results of our investigation are still waiting for the police to date," he told the media quoted on Saturday, April 8. Dencio said that until now there are victims who are still undergoing treatment at the hospital so that the police have not been able to collect information regarding the incident. "There are still friends who are victims who are still under treatment, so for interviews and can't get information yet," Dencio continued. Previously, member of Commission VII DPR Ribka Tjiptaning highlighted the settlement of the working accident case that killed three workers at the oil and gas company PetroChina International Jabung Ltd, Tanjung Jabung Barat, Jambi. "We will summon the President Director Mr. Qian Mingyang, as the highest leader, to directly question his accountability. This cannot be allowed," he said in a written statement quoted on Saturday, April 8.

He also emphasized that the DPR will also summon SKK Migas, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Manpower and the National Police Chief to ensure the continuation of the examination and sanctions for this case. "There has been no news of the results of the investigation for five months. Three workers have their families left behind. The state should not let the company take responsibility. This case will definitely repeat itself because the state is not firm," said Ribka.
