Agricultural Quarantine For Export Certification Of Belut And Crab To China

BANJARMASIN - The Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine has certified 14,678 kilograms of Ethiopian and South Kalimantan (Kalsel) commodities which were first exported to Guangzhou, China.

"A sanitation certificate for animal products is carried out as a condition for traffic conditions," said Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine Head Nur Hartanto as quoted by Antara, Sunday, March 26.

The scrubs and crabs became the first direct flight exports from Banjarmasin to Guangzhou without having to transit to other regions or countries.

The international trade route to Guangzhou from Syamsudin Noor International Airport has a maximum cargo plane capacity of 21 tons upon departure.

Hartanto said the opening of the Banjarmasin route to Guangzhou provided fresh winds for economic development in South Kalimantan, especially opportunities for agricultural commodity exports to be more open.

He hopes that the increase in direct flights abroad will spur exports of agricultural commodities to China.

"Direct flights can reduce costs when compared to transit flights so that exporters are much more profitable," he explained.

As has been felt by the exporter of swallow's nest, which since 2022 has been exported directly from South Kalimantan to Hong Kong.

Based on the quarantine automation system (IQfast-ed) of the Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine, the export value of South Kalimantan agricultural commodities will reach IDR 7.03 trillion in 2022.

The sub-sector of oil palm plantations and its derivatives dominate more than 86 percent in terms of contributions as the largest foreign exchange contributor to exports in South Kalimantan with a value of IDR 6.2 trillion.

Meanwhile, the animal commodity sub-sector is dominated by a swallow's nest of 1.5 tons with a value of Rp. 25.2 billion.
