JAKARTA - Samsung Electronics has officially announced that it will soon launch the Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN) feature on the Samsung Health Monitor application to 13 countries starting in the middle of this year.
Along with blood pressure monitoring and Electrocardiogram (ECG) that is already available in the application, the IHRN feature is said to be detecting a heart rate that could potentially lead to atrial fibrillation (AFib), and could help Galaxy Watch users to understand their heart health more comprehensively.
"Heart disease is still one of the main causes of death worldwide, and we are committed to supporting users to continue to obtain information about their heart health by providing various monitoring tools, including blood pressure measurements and notifications for the irregular heartbeat," said Hon Pak, Vice President and Head of Digital Health Team, MX Business, Samsung Electronics in a statement received in Jakarta.
After being approved by MFSD (Ministry of Food and Drug Safety - South Korea) and obtaining permission from the FDA (the United States Food and Drug Administration) last week, the IHRN feature will be introduced in 13 countries, namely Argentina, Azerbaijan, Ecuador, Georgia, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Panama, and the UAE, together with the United States and South Korea.
Samsung also stated that the IHRN feature will be first available to the Galaxy Watch device, which will launch this year as part of the latest One UI 5 Watch presence. Then, the company will expand its presence to older models in stages.
"We will also continue to look for new ways to help Galaxy Watch users gain deeper insight into their health and fitness easily, both day and night," concluded Pak.
