JAKARTA - Italy's data protection agency on Wednesday April 12 set a deadline for April for OpenAI to meet data and privacy protection demands so that the ChatGPT service, a chatbot for artificial intelligence services, can be operated again in Italy.
On March 31, Microsoft Corp-backed OpenAI deactivated ChatGPT in Italy after the agency, known as Garante, temporarily restricted and began investigations into alleged violations of privacy rules.

Italy's data protection agency accused OpenAI of failing to examine the age of ChatGPT users and criticized the "unpresentity of the legal basis" which confirmed the massive collection and storage of personal data.
In a statement on Wednesday, Garante set a series of "concrete" demands that must be met by the end of this month.
"Only in this case... the authorities will suspend temporary restrictions on the use of Italian user data... and the ChatGPT will again be accessible in Italy," the agency said.
Italy was the first Western European country to fight OpenAI, but the rapid development of this technology has attracted the attention of policymakers and regulators in several countries.
Many experts say new regulations are needed to regulate artificial intelligence due to its potential impact on national security, employment, and education.
