Win Badminton Asia Junior Championship 2023, Mutiara Ayu Prints Indonesia's Badminton History

YOGYAKARTA - Indonesian women's singles, Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari, made a new history. She became the first Indonesian women's singles to win the Badminton Junior Asia Championship (BAJC) title.

Mutiara won BAJC 2023 after defeating South Korean representative Kim Min-ji in the final match which took place at GOR Amonggrogo, Yogyakarta, Sunday, July 16. He won two straight games 21-11, 21-17.

"It feels good to be able to win two straight games and win this tournament. It feels really great," said Mutiara.

"This is unexpected considering the results as expected. From this tournament, I know if I want and try, I'm sure I can," he continued, as reported by Antara.

The athlete who was born in Ngawi, May 17, 2006, did not expect to win the title from BAJC 2023. He admitted that his performance was inconsistent when he played in the mixed team number last week, until his role was replaced by Ruzana.

Luckily, Mutiara's mentality proves her quality today at the Among Rogo Sports Hall, so that she can rise and appear more stable to win the title.

"I myself felt that I did not expect to win this title. This result seemed like a dream. Thank you to the Yogyakarta public for providing support for me. I dedicate this title to the families who have attended, coaches, PBSI, and all Indonesians who provide support for me," said Mutiara.

These results also add to Mutiara's score, which last year also won the Indonesia International Series 2023 tournament at the same location.

At that time Mutiara became the champion in front of the Yogyakarta audience after defeating her senior, Stephanie Widjaja through a rubber game with a score of 15-21, 21-10, 22-20.

The audience's support in Yogyakarta was the most memorable for Mutiara, considering that she could play calmly and comfortably.

"This result is like deja vu for me. Thank you for the support of the Yogyakarta public. I am happy to receive very good enthusiasm from the people here," said Mutiara.
