JAKARTA The boxing sport (sports) targets to bring home two gold medals from the Cambodian SEA Games which will take place from 5 to 17 May 2023.

The 2023 SEA Games Boxing Manager, Hengky Silatang, said the target exceeded this previous edition of the biennial event. He continued, Indonesia could even get more than two gold in Cambodia.

"The Indonesian boxing scene is increasing. Hopefully we can achieve our target of winning two gold medals, but if necessary we can get more," said Hengky in a statement received, Friday, April 28.

"Moreover, athletes are much better in terms of conditions and materials. Hopefully we can get better results," he added.

Boxing sports will dispatch 11 of their best athletes to compete in the largest multi-branch event in Southeast Asia. The details of the athletes who participated in Cambodia consisted of eight sons and three daughters.

They will later fall in 11 classes, consisting of 3 classes in women and 8 classes in men. Three classes of women, namely 54kg, 57kg, and 63kg, while eight men's classes are 48kg, 51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 60kg, 63kg, 71kg, and 86kg.

Hengky said that of the 11 classes that were followed, all had the potential to get gold. However, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Vietnam athletes will still be serious barriers.

"The challenge is only Thailand and the Philippines in the men. The woman is Vietnam. Meanwhile, the host of Cambodia is also, because they may use naturalized athletes," said Hengky.
