"I respect what he has done in this division. It's hard to be a champion and he did. So, I have to respect that. It will be a difficult battle, but I believe in myself," he added.
Wilder last boarded the ring in October last year to beat heavyweight challenger Robert Helenius knockout (Ko) in one round.
Meanwhile, Joshua just got into the ring earlier this month against Jermaine Franklin. He came out victorious through a unanimous decision to end his previous two consecutive defeats to Oleksandr Usyk.
