Porsche Recall Carrera GT, Caused By Suspension Problems

JAKARTA - Porsche was once in the top caste in competing for the supercar segment through the Porsche Carrera GT model. Starting its 2004 debut, the car is juxtaposed with several legendary models from rivals, such as Ferrari Enzo and Mercedes SLR McLaren.

Recently, Porsche's legendary product had problems with the suspension. This is what makes the German manufacturer make a recall on the Carrera GT model.

Reporting from Motor1, Monday, April 10, 2023, there were at least 675 Porsche Carrera GT units affected by the recall, of which 489 units came from North America.

The problem stems from a connection that connects the components of the Wishbone suspension. However, it was not stated that there was an accident due to the suspension component

According to the manufacturer, the components are made of materials that are not very resistant to corrosion when it hits the salt and mechanical pressure while driving. As a result, the connection experienced a rift that might cause a wishbone suspension failure.

Prior to the announcement, Porsche had found this problem routinely inspected vehicles.

In August 2019, one of the customer's cars being served suddenly found a broken suspension connection on the one side. Then, they checked for no damage.

After that, Porsche started a thorough investigation to find the cause of the damage to the suspension connection. But Porsche had problems, namely the number of domestic GT Carrera, of course the investigation would not be easy.

At the end of March 2023, Porsche had gathered several accurate powers to make a recall. Porsche noted no damage to the suspension connection found in other vehicles.

However, they also noted a higher level of surface corrosion in locations that use a lot of salt on the road. It is not stated whether the vehicle is driven during winter conditions, but the level of salt can definitely survive on dry roads after the snow melts.
