JAKARTA - Australia on Sunday called for an independent investigation into the killings of 15 paramedics and civil defense workers in Gaza by Israeli forces last month.
"The deaths of humanitarian workers in Gaza are unacceptable," a spokesman for the Australian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"There should be a thorough and independent investigation. Those responsible must be held accountable," he said.
The claim comes a day after a video released on Saturday (5/4) by The New York Times revealed a deliberate lie by the Israeli army about the killing of 15 Palestinian paramedics in southern Gaza on March 23.
The video was taken from the cellphone of a paramedics whose body was later found buried in a mass grave.
The video reveals the Israeli army's initial claim that the vehicles were moving forward "suspiciously" from its troops "without a forward light, or an emergency signal, (and) their movement was not coordinated beforehand."
