After Reka Adegan, Juwita Journalist's Family Hopes The Suspect Is Sentenced To Death

BANJARBARU - The family of journalist Juwita (23) who became a victim of the greatNESS of Indonesian Navy personnel, in Banjarbaru demanded the suspect be sentenced to death. Their anger broke out after witnessing 33 scenes of murder at the scene on Saturday, April 5.

"The suspect did everything calmly and carefully prepared, including premeditated murder. The suspect must be punished with the maximum sentence, namely the death penalty," said the attorney for the victim's family, Muhamad Pazri on Jalan Trans Gunung Kupang, Cempaka, Banjarbaru City, citing ANTARA on Saturday.

Representing the victim's family, the legal team also asked the Banjarmasin Military Police Detachment (Denpomal) investigators to explore a number of facts in the re-enactment of the scene demonstrated by the suspect Jumran.

"After seeing 33 scenes by the suspect Jumran, our legal team will study it first before coordinating with investigators. We will convey suggestions and input from the family to investigators," said Pazri.

In addition to the absence of scenes of alleged sexual violence exhibited by the suspect, his party also highlighted that the time span for the murder by the suspect Jumran was quite short.

Because according to him, if you look at the situation on the day of the murder on March 22, 2025, the victim was found by the witness at around 15.00 WITA.

Meanwhile, based on the evidence found by a short message on the cellphone, on that day the victim and the perpetrator met and began to shift around 10.30 WITA. Regarding this short period of time, investigators did not explain the detailed hours when the suspect Jumran demonstrated 33 murder scenes.

Therefore, Pazri assessed that this short period of time needed to be explored whether the suspect Jumran was the sole perpetrator, or in fact there were other parties who helped carry out the premeditated murder.

Digital forensic technology can reveal all of this, especially in the car rented by the perpetrator with GPS installed, this can be detected any preparations made by the suspect. Then, regarding the data on the cellphone that was deleted by the suspect, this can also be recovered. Most of the evidence is on the suspect's cellphone, everything he contacted could be a clue," said Pazri.

Denpomal Banjarmasin investigators have so far examined 10 witnesses. In the reconstruction which covered 33 scenes lasted more than an hour, one witness who knew the whereabouts of the perpetrators at the crime scene was presented along with the suspect who demonstrated all the murder scenes.

In the statement conveyed by the Information for the Banjarmasin Lanal, the perpetrators and evidence will then be handed over to the Military Oditur (ODMIL) for an open trial.

The suspect Jumran, who previously served in Lanal Balikpapan, was handed over by Denpomal Balikpapan to Denpomal Banjarmasin to be detained for 20 days, starting Friday (28/3) night.

It is known, the victim named Juwita (23) works as a media journalist on a local network (online) in Banjarbaru and has pocketed a journalist competency test (UKW) with the qualifications of young journalists.

The murder took place on March 22, 2025. The young journalist was found dead on Jalan Trans Gunung Kupang, Cempaka Village, Cempaka District, Banjarbaru City, on Saturday (22/3) at around 15.00 WITA.

His body lay on the side of the road with his motorbike which then appeared to be a single accident victim.

Residents who found it for the first time did not see any signs of the victim having a traffic accident. In the neck of the victim there were a number of bruises, and the victim's relatives also said that Juwita's cellphone was not found at the location.
